On Sept. 8, 2017, the West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team opened up Mountain East Conference play with a commanding 3-0 victory over Urbana at Culpepper Stadium.

Conor Davies put Wesleyan on the board in the 36th minute when he played a pass to the back post from Matthew Bentley.

Only 90 seconds later, Guillermo Reuda crushed a shot from about 10 yards inside the midfield line past the Urbana keeper. The Blue Knights got hit with a pair of red card ejections in the 68th minute when Urbana was hit with two red card ejections.

Playing with a two-man advantage and a two-goal lead, WVWC controlled the rest of the game and added their third goal in the 84th minute when Kazuma Takagi fired a cross to Juwon Akintunde, who scored with a touch in front of the net.

Bobcat keeper Alessandro Armenia turned away three shots in the shutout win. At the time, Wesleyan improved to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0 in MEC play.
