The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team has a pair of road contests this week as the Bobcats travel to Wheeling on Wednesday, Oct. 20 20 at 4 p.m. before heading to No. 6 Charleston on Sunday October 24 for another 4 p.m. kickoff.

- The Bobcats are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to Alderson Broaddus last Wednesday (Oct. 13) and 3-1 setback against Concord on Sunday (Oct. 17).
- Charlie Naylor was announced as the MEC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 11 thanks to a clean sheet against Frostburg State and for scoring the equalizer in the 2-2 draw at Notre Dame (Ohio) on Oct. 10.
- Sophomore Chris Irakoze scored his first Bobcat goal to open the scoring against Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday (Oct. 13).
- Connor Hartwell has three assists in his last four games after assisting Javier De Ona Garcia on his second goal of the season in the match versus AB.
- Fairmont, W.Va., native Tanner Amos scored his third goal of the season early in the game against Concord on Sunday (Oct. 17) from a Zacharias Kohring assist.
Scouting Wheeling
The Cardinals are 4-8-0 overall (3-7-0 conference) after a 1-0 loss to Frostburg State on Saturday (Oct. 16).
Richard Afolayanka has four goals so far this season and Harry Martin is one behind with three. The Cardinals have yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
Jim Regan is in his 36
th and final season in charge of the Wheeling men's soccer program after announcing his retirement this week.
Reverse Fixture vs. Wheeling
A 4-0 loss awaited Wheeling when they traveled to Buckhannon earlier this season. A penalty kick from
Nika Monaselidze opened the scoring and then three goals in quick succession (81', 82' 84') from
Nugzar Barkaia,
Charlie Naylor and
Tanner Amos rounded out the scoring.
Scouting Charleston
The Golden Eagles have just one loss this season, leaving them 11-1-0 overall and 10-1-0 in the MEC. Last time out, Charleston picked up a resounding 4-1 victory at home against Notre Dame (Ohio).
Alejandro Larrayoz and Sebastian Pavez both have six goals apiece with Gabriel Rodriguez not far behind with four.
Daniel Smee is in his second season as the head coach of the Golden Eagles. Smee is a former West Virginia Wesleyan midfielder.
Reverse Fixture vs. Charleston
Then No. 1 Charleston visited Culpepper Stadium on Sept. 19 and escaped a tough game with a win off of an Eduardo Barros golden goal in the second half of overtime.

The Bobcats are slated to return to Culpepper Stadium versus Notre Dame (Ohio) make the trip down on Wednesday (Oct. 27) at 4 p.m.
