Men's Swimming WVWC Sports Information

Bobcats Compete at Davis & Elkins

Wesleyan is scheduled to host Frostburg State on Friday (Jan. 15) at 6 p.m.

ELKINS, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan men and women's swimming teams battled versus Davis & Elkins but ultimately fell on Saturday (Jan. 8) at the George A. Myles Pool in Elkins, W.Va. 
 
The first event of the day was the women's 200 medley relay where Amanda Schlor, Jennifer Williams, Morgan Bennet, and Morgan Choffin placed second. 
 
Starting off in the individual events, Lillie Archer took third in the 1,000 free with a time of 12:21.32. Morgan Choffin followed up with a first place in the 200 free (2:05.64). Jakob Bohland claimed second place in the Men's 200 free with a time of 2:02.79. 
 
In the Women's 50 yard back, Schlor (30.74) earned second place with teammate Hannah Cook (32:08) closely behind. On the men's side, Marc Bennett (27.41) took second place and barely edged out teammate Nick Gerosa (27.85).
 
Jennifer Williams (34.02) touched second on the wall in the 50 yard breast while Ashley Downes placed a time of 41.68. Ben Esposito (30.05) came away with second place with Jakob Bohland (32.82) trailing behind. 
 
Morgan Bennet finished the 100 yard fly in 1:13.04 while Zeinah Abdelsalam recorded a time of 1:19.19. In the men's 100 yard fly, Santiago de Stefano Cavazos registered a time of 1:01.60.
 
Cook won the women's 50 yard free while Alayna Crane took second. Morgan Bennet logged a time of 1:00.49 in the women's 100 yard free for second place. Stephen Groves (56.28) and Esposito (56.46) competed in the men's 100 yard free.
 
Crane finished just behind D&E's Casey Hayford in the women's 100 yard back. Crane touched the wall with a time of 1:06.37. Marc Bennett finished second in the men's 100 yard back with a time of 57.55. In the women's 100 yard breast, Williams finished with a time of 1:18.56 and Downes recorded a time of 1:35.00. On the men's side, Esposito recorded a time of 1:10.64 in the 100 yard breaststroke.
 
Choffin won the 500 yard free with a time of 5:41.95. Archer completed the 500 yard free with a time of 6:07.47. On the men's side, Marc Bennett posted a time of 5:26.72 and Gerosa completed the race in 6:03.42.

Morgan Bennet out touched her competitors for first place during the 50 yard fly (29.48), while Abdelsalam finished with a 32.13 and Archer finished with a 32.92. De Stefano Cavazos earned a 27.24 in the men's 50 yard fly. 
 
To conclude the individual events, Choffin secured first place in the 400 IM with a time of 5:08.04, while Schlor received a time of 5:28.32 and Williams a time of 5:58.77. On the men's side, Santiago De Stefano Cavazos placed second with a time of 5:01.07, followed by Bohland with a time of 5:15.35. 
 
The Bobcat women's 400 yard free relay of Archer, Abdelsalam, Crane, and Cook took second place with a final time of 4:07.10.
