BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Men's Basketball will be home once again on Wednesday night, this time to face the Falcons of Notre Dame College at 7:30 p.m. NDC knocked off Wesleyan earlier in the season 91-47 in South Euclid.
NOTRE DAME FALCONS
The Falcons enter (13-7) overall and (9-5) in MEC play. Notre Dame is on a 5-game winning streak, previously beating Glenville State on the road 97-93 on Saturday in MEC play and Penn State State Fayette on Monday night 116-60 in non-confernce play.
NDC features one of the top defenses in the league, allowing 75.9 PPG (2
nd MEC) and holding their opponents to just 41.5% from the field (1
st MEC) and 28.3% from three (1
st MEC). The Falcons rank 5
th in Scoring Offense, averaging 84.6 PPG.
Jaedon Willis is the 10
th leading scorer in the country and 2
nd in the MEC, putting up 22.0 PPG for the Falcons. All three of Notre Dame's top scorers shoot 40% or better from the field, with DeAirius Barker averaging 12.1 PPG and shooting a team-high 48%. Andre Harris is pulling down 7.1 RPG, good enough for 8
th in the MEC.
Mark Richmond is in his fourth season as Head Coach of the Falcons. He coached Jaedon Willis to a First Team All-MEC selection last season. Prior to NDC, Richmond made several stops in his coaching career. Previously he was the Director of Operations at Youngstown State for two years, Director of Player Development at Fordham, assistant coach at East Tennessee State from 2013-15, assistant coach at Univ. of Charleston for three years, assistant coach at Centenary College, and he started his career as a student assistant at WVU under Bob Huggins.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS
The Bobcats enter (2-16) overall and (2-12) in MEC play. Wesleyan has dropped their last three, lastly losing to #22 West Liberty 108-54 on Saturday.
WVWC has struggled to find their groove on offense, ranking last in the MEC in Scoring Offense at just 61.3 PPG. Their high intensity on ball defense as been a bright spot for the Bobcats, averaging 8.7 SPG (3
rd MEC).
Darius Green is averaging 17.2 PPG to lead the Bobcats and rank 9
th in the conference. Green's 6.6 RPG puts him 12
th in rebounding and his 2.3 SPG ranks him 2
nd in the league in steals.
Tyler Slone (11.4 PPG) and
Anthony Craven Jr. (10.7 PPG) continue to be the next scoring options for Wesleyan.
