BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced the 2025 Volleyball individual award-winners and all-conference teams on Wednesday afternoon. The top honors and All-MEC teams were chosen by a vote of league head coaches.
The 2025 MEC Coach of the Year is
Nancy Wheeler, who led West Virginia Wesleyan to a share of the MEC South Division title and the No. 1 overall seed in this week's MEC Tournament. The Bobcats will host the eight-team event after finishing the regular season 19-8 overall and 11-4 in MEC play, and carry a six-game winning streak into the tournament.
Wheeler has orchestrated a remarkable turnaround in Buckhannon, West Virginia, improving from seven to 15 wins a season ago, and from 15 to 19 in 2025. West Virginia Wesleyan won a combined 10 conference games the previous three seasons, surpassing that total this season alone. The Bobcats took a pair of matches against defending champion West Virginia State, beat University of Charleston at home and on the road, and swept Wheeling in three sets in the teams' lone matchup.
