Alex Mirhosseini Claims All-MEC Honorable Mention

The Mountain East Conference has named Wesleyan's Alex Mirhosseini 2025 All-MEC Honorable Mention.

Mirhosseini, a senior guard from Arlington, Texas, made a significant impact on the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats men's basketball team. Standing at 5-foot-10, Mirhosseini emerged as a key contributor during his collegiate career, demonstrating scoring ability, playmaking skills, and leadership on the court.

Mirhosseini showcased his offensive firepower in the 2024-25 season, setting a season-high 38 points against USC Beaufort on November 17, 2024. In that game, he was nearly unstoppable, knocking down 13 field goals, including six three-pointers. His performance throughout the season was defined by his consistency, playing heavy minutes and contributing in multiple facets of the game.

Other standout performances included:
  • 12 rebounds against Point Park (December 11, 2024)
  • 11 free throws made versus Glenville State (January 11, 2025)
  • 9 assists against Point Park (February 1, 2025)
  • 5 steals in the same game on February 1, 2025
  • 2 blocks against Glenville State (February 15, 2025)

Mirhosseini's all-around game was evident in his season totals:
  • 154 field goals made on 40.8% shooting
  • 74 three-pointers at 40.9% accuracy
  • 107 free throws made at a 76.4% clip
  • 103 rebounds (3.7 RPG)
  • 112 assists (4.0 APG)
  • 47 steals and 11 blocks

After a solid 2023-24 season, where he averaged 31.2 minutes per game, Mirhosseini took a leap in 2024-25, increasing his efficiency and expanding his role as a primary offensive weapon. Over two seasons, he played in 43 games, all as a starter, averaging 31.1 minutes per game while maintaining a respectable 38.3% field goal percentage and a 39.6% three-point shooting mark.

Mirhosseini's ability to create shots, facilitate offense, and contribute defensively was crucial for the Bobcats. His scoring bursts, particularly from beyond the arc, made him a player to watch in the Mountain East Conference and earned him All-MEC accolades.

In addition to the All-MEC first team and postseason award winners, the conference also recognized second team and honorable mention all-conference teams (listed below).
