The West Virginia Wesleyan women's basketball team is scheduled to play host to West Virginia State on Wednesday (Jan. 20) at 5 p.m. before traveling to Charleston on Saturday (Jan. 23) to take on the Golden Eagles at 2 p.m.Â

Vicky Bullett enters her fifth season as the West Virginia Wesleyan head coach. The former All-American at Maryland and former WNBA No. 1 draft pick played six seasons in the WNBA. Bullett is a member of the Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. She helped Team USA to a gold medal in 1988.Â

Cierra Tolbert's father, Ray was the Big Ten Player of the Year at Indiana in 1981, was selected 18
th overall in the NBA draft and played five seasons in the NBA.Â
• WVWC led at halftime, 45-36 and headed into the third quarter, 62-51 against Fairmont State on Monday, Jan. 18. The Falcons outscored the Bobcats, 29-13 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback road victory, 80-75. Wesleyan outscored Fairmont State in the paint 42-36.Â

Scouting West Virginia State
The Yellow Jackets are coming off their first win of the season, a 121-88 decision over Alderson Broaddus on the road. West Virginia State is 1-3 overall this year and finished last season with a 10-20 mark.Â
Charity Shears is the leading scorer (14.0 points per game) through the first games. Shears poured in 31 points and came away with six steals in the victory versus Alderson Broaddus.Â

Destiny Field is the other Yellow Jacket to average double figures scoring (10.8 points per game) and she also leads WVSU in rebounding with 6.5 boards a contest.Â

Charles Marshall enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Yellow Jackets. Prior to taking the helm at West Virginia State, Marshall spent the previous three seasons from 2013-16 as the head women's basketball coach at Glenville State. Marshall holds a 47-76 record as the WVSU head coach.Â

The Golden Eagles are off to a 4-0 start after a 67-62 win at Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday (Jan. 16).Â

Erykah Russell is averaging a double-double of 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds a game. Russell nearly had a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds in the victory at Notre Dame (Ohio).Â
