The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team will host a battle of the Bobcats on Wednesday (Oct. 6) in Buckhannon against Frostburg State at 7 p.m. before travelling to South Euclid, Ohio, on Sunday (Oct. 10) for a mid-day 12 p.m. kickoff against Notre Dame (Ohio).
Quick Hits
- This past week, WVWC lost 2-1 in overtime at Davis and Elkins then took on Seton Hill in non-conference play and earned a 1-0 victory.
- The 1-0 win over Seton Hill was Gavin Donaldson's 400th career win as a collegiate head coach.
- Nika Monaselidze continued his outstanding season by scoring two more goals last week. First, a free kick against D&E followed by another free kick for the game winner at Seton Hill.
- Antigua native Dajun Barthley made his Bobcats debut against Seton Hill, as well as Lance Cerullo of Fairmont, W.Va.
Scouting Frostburg State
The Frostburg State Bobcats have a current record of 4-4-1 (4-4-0 in MEC play) but lost their last game at Davis and Elkins 3-1 on Sunday (Oct. 3).
Malek Shedid and Zach Harpel each have two goals so far this season as Shedid also has an assist.
Keith Byrnes is into his 19
th season as the head coach at Frostburg State and is the second-winningest coach in the 79-year men's soccer program history.
Scouting Notre Dame
The Falcons have a current record of 5-2 with their latest victory coming against West Liberty on Saturday (Oct. 2) by a 3-1 decision.
Lukas Hackaa has just been awarded the MEC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals and assisting two in the two games last week.
Carl Nolan is in his sixth season as head coach of the Falcons and came into this year with an overall record of 54-22-7.
