The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team plays host to California (Pa.) this Thursday Sept. 2 in its home opener at Culpepper Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

• The Bobcats finished last season with a 4-4 regular season mark, picking up wins over Wheeling, Concord, West Liberty, and Frostburg.
• WVWC defeated Salem and Shepherd during its two preseason exhibition games.
• Charlie Naylor is back for his junior year after being named to the All-Mountain East Conference First Team after the spring season. 
• Last season's joint top goal-scorer Hunter Dierlam is back after earning MEC All-Freshman team honors.
•  Nika Monaselidze has eight goals and two assists so far during his Bobcat career.
• Captain Connor Hartwell is leading the side in his senior year. Since his debut in August of 2019, no one has played more minutes for the Bobcats.
• Former MEC championship winning captain Josh Spencer is back at Wesleyan, this time in the dugout as a volunteer assistant. 

Scouting California (Pa.)
The Vulcans haven't played an official game since the 2019 season due to COVID-19 protocols in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. In their first game of that season, the Vulcans lost in California, Pa., to the Bobcats 2-1 as Javier De Ona Garcia scored the game winner.

California (Pa.) is led by Emedin Sabic who is in his ninth season as head coach, posting a record of 42-63-12 during that span.
