Men's Soccer Preview: Davis & Elkins & Seton Hill

WVWC men's soccer has a tough MEC challenge on Wednesday before wrapping up non-conference play on Saturday.

The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team continues its road swing with a short trip to Davis & Elkins on Wednesday (Sept. 29) for a 7 p.m. kickoff before concluding the non-conference schedule at Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pa., on Saturday (Oct. 2) at 3:30 p.m.

  • Wesleyan split last week with a 2-1 win at Concord on Wednesday (Sept. 22) and a 1-0 loss at West Liberty on Saturday (Sept. 25).

Scouting Davis & Elkins
The Senators come into the contest on the back of a 3-0 road victory at Washington Adventist (NAIA), extending their perfect record to 6-0-0. The Senators have yet to concede a goal with their most notable win coming against the reigning national champion Charleston on the road.

Junior forward Daniel Cerezo has four goals in 6 starts this season and Jeremy Coste has been between the sticks for all six clean sheets.

Head coach Dean Johnson is in his second season at the helm in Elkins after leading the Senators to a 7-2 record in the 2021 spring season including a 2-0 win over WVWC.

Scouting Seton Hill
The Griffins come into Saturday's game with a current overall record of 3-2-1 with their most recent game ending in a 3-0 victory at the expense of Salem.

Anthony Panko and Elias Vangen have two goals each and the Griffins have kept a pair of clean sheets so far.

Dan McCarty is into his 18th season in charge at Seton Hill.
