The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team travels to Alderson Broaddus this Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. to open up its Mountain East Conference campaign.

- In the season opener on Thursday (Sept. 2), the Bobcats defeated California (Pa.) 3-1 at Culpepper Stadium.
- Junior midfielder Hunter Dierlam, senior captain Connor Hartwell and senior wingback Andrew White all scored goals. Hartwell also picked up an assist. The goal by Andrew White was the first of his collegiate career.
- Wesleyan got off to a lightning quick start on Sept. 2, going up 2-0 within the first six minutes of the game.
- Nika Monaselidze and Tanner Amos both popped up with an assist whilst Luis Diaz completed his first complete 90 minutes of play since a 2-1 win against Wheeling on Feb. 21.
- Fabrizio Lucia, Zacharias Kohring, Lane Tenney, Isaac Branch made all made their collegiate debuts against the Vulcans.
Scouting Alderson Broaddus
The Battlers earned a 1-0 win at home against Seton Hill in their season opener on Sunday (Sept. 5), thanks to a penalty converted by Joshua Gabriel.
AB had 16 shots versus Seton Hill including eight on goal. Freshman keeper Diego Gomez made a pair of saves in his season debut.
Scott Phipps enters his seventh season leading Alderson Broaddus. The Battlers finished 2-6 during the 2021 spring season.

Last season, Alderson Broaddus knocked off the Bobcats 2-1 in Philippi. Melvrik Fernandes and Nathan Djona scored goals for AB and
Hunter Dierlam got the consolation goal for the Bobcats.
