Preview: WVWC Set To Host Frostburg State

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Basketball looks to pickup a key conference win on Wednesday evening at home when they host Frostburg State at 5:30 p.m. FSU won the previous matchup with WVWC on Nov. 19 in Frostburg 54-49.

FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS
Frostburg State enters (4-12) overall and (2-8) in MEC play. FSU are losers of their last two, previously dropping a home matchup with Wheeling 74-69.

The Bobcats rank last in the MEC in Team FG%, only shooting 35.7%. Frostburg sits in the bottom four of the conference in many statistical categories. FSU does rank 4th in the MEC in Opponent FG%, holding opponents to shooting 39.6%.

True Freshman Emilee Weakly averages 22.9 PPG, putting her 4th in the country and 1st in the MEC in scoring. Weakly had a career-high 38 points at Alderson Broaddus in early January and has scored 30+ points in four games this season. Weakly also ranks 2nd in the MEC in rebounds per game, grabbing 10.5 per contest. Maggie Sharp (10.9 PPG) and Rhiana Hall (10.0 PPG) aid the Bobcats scoring as well.

Jenna Eckleberry is in her first season as Head Coach of the Bobcats. Prior to FSU, Eckleberry spent eight seasons as the leader of the Shepherd WBB program. Eckleberry won 118 games, two NCAA Tournament bids, coached an All-American, and had the top scoring offense in the PSAC the previous two seasons.

WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS
Wesleyan enters (2-11) overall and (1-9) in MEC play. The Bobcats lingered around with an upset at No. 2 Glenville State on Saturday, losing 61-55.

WVWC stays put at 4th in the MEC in Scoring Defense with opponents average per game dropping to 68.8 PPG. The Bobcats stay active on the boards, ranking 4th as well in Team Rebounds (39.5 AVG/G) and 5th in Offensive Rebounds (13.3 AVG/G).

Emma Witt ranks 9th in the MEC in scoring, averaging 15.8 PPG to lead the Bobcats. Daveona Hatchell is in the Top-15 in rebounding, grabbing 6.7 RPG. Courtney Wilfong sits 7th in the conference in assists, dishing out 3.4 APG for the Bobcats.
