Preview: Bobcats Start Final Week Of Regular Season At Fairmont State

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Basketball kicks off the last week of the regular season on the road at Fairmont State on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff. FSU won the first matchup of the season in late November 87-68 in Buckhannon. The Bobcats haven't defeated the Falcons since the 2019 MEC Tournament.

FAIRMONT STATE FIGHTING FALCONS
The Falcons enter (20-8) overall and (14-6) in MEC play. Fairmont is riding a six-game winning streak, previously beating West Liberty on the road 91-85 on Saturday.

FSU scores 79.7 PPG, putting them 7th in the country and 4th in the MEC. The Falcons are 3rd in the league in Turnover Margin at 4.18. Active hands on defense has served Fairmont well, averaging 10.2 SPG (3rd MEC).

Alyssa DeAngelo is the 3rd leading scorer in the conference at 18.4 PPG. DeAngelo scored 32 points at West Liberty on 11-22 shooting from the field. Fairmont's second leading scorer is Katy Darnell who is averaging 14.8 PPG, which is Top-15 in the league. Darnell ranks 5th in the MEC in rebounding at 8.1 RPG. Madeline Huffman dishes out 3.1 APG to lead the team.

Stephanie Anderson is in her fourth season as the Head Coach of the Falcons. Anderson has coached four All-MEC selections, one MEC Freshman of the Year and one All-Region honoree in her tenure. Anderson previously served as the lead assistant with the FSU program for five seasons. In those five seasons, the Falcons went 90-61.

WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS
The Bobcats enter (5-18) overall and (4-16) in MEC play. Wesleyan is coming off a 69-55 loss at home to No. 5 Glenville State on Saturday.

WVWC is 6th in the conference in 3PFG% (30%) and Offensive Rebounds (12.6 ORPG). The Bobcats 5.0 3PFGs Made per game is 7th in the league. Only allowing 69.2 PPG is still good enough for 4th in the MEC.

Emma Witt now has four-straight games of 20+ points after her 21-point performance against Glenville State. On the season, Witt is averaging 15.7 PPG to lead the Bobcats and ranks 11th in the MEC in scoring. Daveona Hatchell is the team-leader in rebounding, pulling down 6.8 RPG.
