BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Volleyball program has released their schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The 27-game slate features the Bobcats heading to PSAC foes California (Pa.) and West Chester for early-season tournaments as well as 16 games against Mountain East Conference opponents.
Wesleyan opens up the season at California (Pa.) for the Vulcan Invitational, playing four games over a two-day span (Sept. 1-2). The following weekend, the Bobcats head to West Chester to play the Golden Rams, Felician University and Pitt-Johnstown at the Rams Fest (Sept. 8-9). The 'Cats will be home for the first time during the weekend of Sept. 15-16, playing Central State, Indianapolis, Bowie State and Seton Hill.
The Bobcats open up MEC play at home with Notre Dame College on Sept. 22 and hits the road for the first time in league play on Sept. 26 at Charleston. Wesleyan closes out the packed month of September with the Pioneers of Glenville State on the 29
th inside the Rockefeller Center.
Head Coach
Nancy Wheeler's squad starts the month of October on the road in four of their first five games. WVWC heads to Concord (Oct. 3) and West Virginia State (Oct. 6) back-to-back, returning home to face Davis & Elkins on Oct. 10 before hitting the road for consecutive matches once again, facing the defending MEC champion Wheeling on Oct. 13 and West Liberty on Oct. 14.
After beginning the month heavily on the road, the 'Cats finish out October at home with four home games and just one road match. The orange and black welcome Frostburg State (Oct. 20), Fairmont State (Oct. 21) and Charleston (Oct. 24) into the Rockefeller Center for three-straight matches, eventually leaving Buckhannon to face Alderson Broaddus on Oct. 27 and returning home on Oct. 31 against Concord to wrap up October.
The 'Cats hit the road to square off with Glenville State on Nov. 3 prior to hosting West Virginia State on Nov. 6 for Senior Night. The regular season will conclude at Davis & Elkins on Nov. 10 inside the McDonough Center. With a top-4 finish in the MEC South Division, the Bobcats would clinch a bid into the MEC Tournament Nov. 16-18.
